Musical Advent Calendar 2013 – December 21

The nice thing about Christmas falling on a Wednesday is that it makes the weekend before feel like the start of a reeeely long Christmas weekend.  That gives plenty of time of time for gathering with friends and family and just feeling good during this magical season.

Today’s song is about celebrating that feeling of community, and also the love between two people.  Sugar & The Hi Lows is a group formed by Nashville based singer-songwriters Trent Dabbs and Amy Stroup.  Their Christmas ep, Snow Angel, has a rootsy-folk vibe.  But the stand-out track is “Home For The Holidays”.

“Home For The Holidays” is a beautiful ode to home being represented by your loved one’s, rather than a physical place.  It really is lovely.  And today, you get to enjoy it with the yule-log fire burning on the video.

This video actually features an edit of the original song, which is a couple of minutes longer, but it still sounds great.  I should also point out that this is one of my wife’s new favorite Christmas songs, and today – this is for her.

Merry Christmas, everyone!  I hope that wherever you are today, you are home for the holidays.
